I spotted this book at one of those reduced priced booksellers that are set up in various malls. being interested in the topic, and with a $6.99 price sticker, I thought "What have I got to lose?" (besides $6.99, which sadly actually matters these days). Turns out it is chock-full of handy websites and links, though mostly British, related to business and designers who are actively engaged in creating ethical, and/or eco-friendly fashions.
Another nice feature is that it provides a very friendly intro to how to think about the aquisition of clothes in a new way; say, questioning why something is so low-cost and the steps that went into producing it. There are a bunch of books I want to get my hands on regarding this topic, but this is a good start.
For starters, check out this video by People Tree, a fair trade and ethical fashion company based in London. (London seems to be way ahead in this field, as well as related educational programs). It was mentioned in the book, and low and behold, there it was on YouTube:
